Visa Information

Citizens of most of foreign countries need visa to come to Russia. You have to obtain your visa in a Russian consulate on the base of official invitation issued by Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. When you receive the official invitation, it will take some time to obtain the visa in the consulate. The invitation for a tourist visa can be obtained via company Monomax very quickly — just one or two days are required. However, for a tourist visa you need to know the exact dates of your travel. On contrary to get the invitation for a scientific visa can take up to 2 months, and it is given for one month.
Please note that a simple letter from our institute will not be considered at the consulate.

Thus, obtaining the tourist visa is much faster and easier. If it is not essential for you we recommend obtaining the tourist visa. Moreover, the person who has a permanent residence in the following countries:
Azerbaijan, Algeria, Angola, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Georgia, Chad, China, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Korea, Lebanon, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Turkey, Vietnam
can expect big problems of even be refused to get the scientific visa, so for them we strongly recommend to apply for the tourist visa only.

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused by these bureaucratic processes, but unfortunately we can"t influence them.

On the base of the above-stated please make your choice between the tourist and scientific visa.

• If you choose scientific visa, please send us visa application form (whith copies of your passport pages at your earliest convenience) no later than on the 1-st of February. The visa application form will be accessible for you only after registration as a participant of APM 2010.

Additional visa information

You may find at the list of Russian consulates with their contact information, but please do check it since consulates move. Please contact the consulate where you will apply for your visa and ask if a fax copy of official invitation is sufficient to obtain a visa. We kindly ask you to answer this question in the visa application form. In some Russian consulates (e.g. in The Netherlands, Italy, China, Israel and other countries) you will have to bring with you the original invitation. Please contact the consulate directly if you have any questions concerning the rules of obtaining a visa (e.g. if you must come personally to the consulate to pick up your visa, what are the terms of visa issuing etc.), since the rules vary in different consulates to another and we cannot provide you the exact information on this subject.
